Kern, a solution provider for the first and last mile, presents its new product, PackOnTime, a packaging system that operates on sustainable recycled cardboard and eliminates the need for additional filling materials such as plastic, bubble wrap and polystyrene. The content of all kind of orders (single or multiple items) is measured in a 3D process, and then inserted into the tailor-made packaging. The innovative system is intended to address the booming parcel delivery market. The tailor-made packaging is designed to make the whole supply chain process environmentally friendly. This goal, and the associated savings in CO2, can be achieved with recycled cardboard, the reduction of filling materials and the better utilization of delivery vehicles.
Kern will also present the new version of its Flexi Terminal, a lightweight and easily modified terminal that makes the installation of lockers a simpler and more affordable process for small-scale locations. In addition, Kern will unveil three new Smart Terminals in its portfolio at this year’s expo in Amsterdam. One of them works as a secure deposit for keys; the user can obtain their keys by showing a code at the reader, which allows access to their keys. Second, a simple cost-effective drop-off machine will make returns easier for users. Thirdly, a terminal based on BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology operates in a simpler and more environmentally friendly way, since it does not require an electric connection.
