Egypt is a young nation; almost 60% of its 114 million citizens are aged between 15 and 59. This means that a large proportion are digitally native, preferring to use apps and websites to conduct their everyday lives rather than visiting physical stores.
This is evident in the dramatic rise in e-commerce in the country – there were around 20 million e-commerce users in 2017, rising to 62.4 million in 2023, according to Statista.

Neil Brocklehurst, the newly appointed CEO of the Post Office, has announced a ‘landmark new banking deal for postmasters’ on his first day in the role (April 30).

Austrian Post has successfully concluded its pay deal negotiation with the Postal and Telecommunications Workers’ Union (GPF), agreeing a 2.8% increase for all employees, including apprentices, from July 1, 2025.
Any additional fees and allowances will also be increased by 2.8%, and the daily and overnight allowances and the mileage allowance for salaried employees will be adjusted to the rates applicable to civil servants from July 1, 2025.
For employees who are subject to the 2009 collective agreement, Part 2, and who work in the field, the tax-free daily allowance will also be increased from the current €26.16 (US$29.73) to €29 (US$32.96) per calendar day from January 1, 2026.
Jarrolds Logistics, part of the APC delivery network, has opened a new 2,787m2 depot in Norwich in the UK, which will support the company’s growing business in next-day parcel delivery, warehousing and fulfillment services.
The new site increases the company’s operational capacity by over 35% and brings Jarrolds’ services under one roof to enable greater efficiency.
According to the company, the expansion is a response to sustained business growth driven by increasing demand from SMEs and large businesses across the region.
PostNord has announced its first-quarter financial results for 2025, with operating income growing 2.1% to SEK189m (US$19.6m) thanks to 8% growth in its parcel volumes compared with Q1 2024.
According to the post, its improvement programs have increased efficiency and reduced costs, thus boosting income despite mail volumes falling by 14% in the quarter compared with 2024.
“The fact that income for the group was again strong shows that our improvement programs have delivered as planned,” said Annemarie Gardshol, president and CEO of PostNord.
DHL has been appointed by Jameel Motors UK to handle finished vehicle and aftermarket logistics for the all-newborn-electric Farizon SV large van in the UK.
DHL will provide an end-to-end solution by combining the expertise and capabilities of its Supply Chain and Forwarding divisions. DHL Global Forwarding will manage the customs clearance and management of the vehicles and parts on entry into the UK. All Farizon vehicles coming into the UK port of Felixstowe will then be collected by DHL Supply Chain, taken to its container facility in Stanton for checks, and then transported to its finished vehicle site in Peterborough.
Delivery solutions provider DX Group has announced the launch of its UK-wide same-day delivery service, DX SameDay, which will be available 24/7 all year round.
The new service is the next step in the company’s group-wide service expansion plan and will be managed by a centralized team based at DX’s operations in Wednesfield, West Midlands.
DX SameDay will provide a full range of same-day services, including ‘on-demand’ for urgent consignments and scheduled services for time-specific deliveries, in addition to contracted and multi-drop services.
