Fez Delivery raises US$1m in seed funding
Logistics startup Fez Delivery has raised US$1m in a seed funding round, led by Ventures Platform.
The funding round included participation from Voltron Capital, Acasia Ventures (formerly Cairo Angels) and other angel investors. This funding announcement followed investment from tech accelerator Techstars Toronto.
Fez Delivery was founded in 2020 by Seun Alley, as a pivot from her previous company which offered janitorial services to businesses but suffered from absenteeism of the janitors because they were running errands for employees.
ePost Global extends partnership with Hurricane Commerce
International logistics company ePost Global is expanding its partnership with cross-border data company Hurricane Commerce.
ePost Global has been using Hurricane’s Zephyr solution to ensure items being shipped from the USA have the correct Harmonized System (HS) code for import and export, enabling a smooth passage through customs. As part of this extended partnership, ePost Global will begin offering Hurricane’s Aura solution to its e-commerce customers enabling correct duty and tax calculations for goods shipped through commercial networks into Canada.
Omniva and Ukrposhta renew bilateral agreement
Omniva, the national postal service of Estonia, and Ukraine’s national postal service, Ukrposhta, have renewed their partnership agreement to strengthen and grow cooperation.
Mart Mägi, chairman of the board of Omniva, and Igor Smelyansky, CEO of Ukrposhta, signed a bilateral agreement between the postal operators during a meeting in Kyiv to discuss their previous long-term partnership and further activities and possibilities to strengthen cooperation in the future.
According to Omniva, it is the first postal operator whose representatives visited Ukrposhta in Kyiv since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.
ICS2 implementation and how it’s changing the cross-border shipping game
The EU introduced a new version of its Import Control System (ICS2) on March 1, 2023. The implementation of ICS2 Release 2 is significant and impacts companies shipping to the EU. There has been a lot of confusion on this topic so it’s important to understand what is changing and how companies can become compliant. While 12 EU countries have been granted a delayed implementation of ICS2 until June 30, 2023, it is recommended that all companies become compliant now to avoid problems.

DX opens two hubs in the UK
UK delivery provider DX has opened a regional hub in Merseyside and a depot in Shropshire.
The site in Merseyside comprises over 33,000ft2 and is located in Haydock on the newly redeveloped Connect Park. It is expected to be a major hub and depot for DX Express’s operations in the Northwest of England and the existing building has been extensively refurbished to fit DX’s operational requirements. The site in Shropshire is located in Shrewsbury on Battlefield Enterprise Park and replaces an existing site in the area.

Australia Post launches Access and Inclusion Plan
Australia Post has launched its Access and Inclusion Plan 2023 to 2025, outlining specific commitments to help improve and improve the experiences of Australia Post team members, customers and communities over the next three years.
Building on its commitment to support people with a disability, the new plan is its first to include specific actions to support carers. Other commitments include ongoing and increased representation of people with disability through groups such as the Australia Post Stakeholder Council and Accessibility Matters; enhanced accessibility options across post offices, websites and mobile apps; and ensuring 90% of customer-facing team members complete disability confidence training by 2024.
Position Imaging partners to expand Smart Package Room installations to the US
Package and advanced asset tracking company Position Imaging has partnered with information technology company Computer Discount Warehouse (CDW) and smart building technologies integrator Mason Technologies to manage logistics and install its Smart Package Room throughout the US.
With the help of these organizations, Position Imaging intends to scale Smart Package Room deployments in multifamily properties, as well as in student housing and elsewhere. Using Position Imaging’s Smart Package Room, any courier can quickly assign packages to residents at the entry point kiosk, unlock the door and place the package on a shelf.
